I woke up today, knowing I did not have to get up quickly.
I did not have to go to the laundry.
Refresh the water.
Empty the litter.
Check the corners.
I did not have to remember to thaw some meat.
I did not have to check where there had been hidden little snips of broken bone.
I did not have to watch my step.
These are the many things I did not have to do.
I am free from these responsibilities.
I am free from the scents.
I am free from the worries.
I do not want this freedom.
Because what I do have to do
Is head down to the tree
With a shovel in my hand
And say goodbye.

*hugs.* I don’t know what else to say, but I love you and I’m so sorry, so very, very sorry for your loss.
