MTG: August’s Custom Cards: Tricksy Cards!

With the end of tricks month we have another collection of daily Magic: The Gathering cards. This month, we didn’t have a mechanical identity to work with, but instead we wanted to work with the same theme of TRICKS.

The plan for this set of cards was to be tricky. That is, every card in this set was going to qualify for one of two basic ideas:

  • The cards needed to involve hidden information such as secretly chosen things, face-down cards, or cards from the hand that should be secret.
  • The cards need to be inspired by the names of a classic con.

Here are the cards:

If you’re curious, the classic magic tricks I used for inspiration are:

  • Pulling rabbits from a hat
  • A fake body
  • The Noorseekee scam
  • Cutting a person in half
  • Bag swapping
  • The fiddle game
  • Three card monte
  • Playing Possum
  • The ole Razzle Dazzle
  • Instant stooging
  • Ratfucking
  • Identity theft
  • Palming a card
  • Coin Smacking
  • Pigeon Tails
  • The Pledge, The Turn and The Prestige

Good luck working out which is which!
